Finally our Angel came!!
This is going to be a long post, so I apologize in advance, but I want to tell the whole story of the birth of Lukas Evan Hancock.
So, it was Tuesday, May 27th and I had a non-stress test to go take at the U (since I was now 4 days over-due). So, Daryl and I met up at Red Butte Cafe to have lunch before and then off we went to our appointment. Everything was fine at the appointment - in fact, the nurse said I had more than enough fluid to sustain this little guy for awhile. What great news! (insert sarcasm). So, after the appointment Daryl and I sat in our car for awhile to talk and we started getting in an argument about none other than the fact that we were so frustrated that I wasn't going into labor. Daryl was frustrated because every day he woke up, he thought it would be his last day to work for a week or so. I was frustrated, obviously, because I wasn't going into labor, I was extremely uncomfortable, and Daryl's frustration was making me feel like I was letting him down. Anyway, to make a long story short, I left crying (because I was 9 + months pregnant and a bit emotional) and drove home to North Salt Lake and Daryl drove back to work. I was talking to my mom and sister on the phone on the way home and as I walked through the door, my water broke (literally right as I stepped through the door!). I called Daryl, he came and got me, and away we went, AGAIN, to the hospital (could this baby be anymore frustrating? Why couldn't my water break during the test I had one hour before??)
So, we get to the hospital and they confirm my water broke, but they have no beds available at the moment. So, I get to spend 2 hours in the evaluation area on a hard examining table. Thank God my contractions weren't painful yet, or else I would have been unbearable to be around. We finally get a room and we hang out for probably 5-6 hours with me having contractions, but they don't hurt, they are irregular, and labor is not progressing. So, it is decided that I need to get Patosin (I probably spelled that wrong). That takes another couple of hours or so to kick in and finally I start having regular contractions. So, this entire time, I am trying to go "natural" and not get an epidural. Around midnight, Daryl tries to fall asleep and within a couple of minutes, I am waking him up asking him if I should "give in" and get an epidural. He was a bit shocked since nothing was really happening two minutes before. He gets up and helps me through the contractions, but after a couple more hours, I decide it is too painful and I really want the epidural. I am dialated to a 7 at this point and it takes another hour and a half to get the epidural (they were a bit busy that night!). I finally get the epidural, it was heaven, and I get a couple hours of sleep. Then they come and check me and I am fully dialated and I can start pushing (yeah!!). I was thinking, I am going to have a baby here within a hour - I can't wait!! How silly of me! So, to sum it up, I pushed for three hours, make absolutely NO PROGRESS and was told I needed a C-section. At 11:32 a.m. on May 28th, our little, stubborn angel came into the world and life hasn't been the same since nor will it ever be. Oh, PS - He was 9 lbs. 15 oz., 22 inches long and in perfect health! No wonder I couldn't push him out.

More belly pics!
Here are a some random belly pics for you all to enjoy.
This picture was taken at the end of March. At the time, I thought I was huge!!! What did I know?!
This picture was taken at the beginning of May. I was really starting to get miserable by this time. My feet were swelling and I had a hard time walking.
This picture was taken May 15th, 13 days before birth. I was ready to go then though. Also, as you can see, everybody loved to gather 'round the belly. I swear everytime I sat down, I would have at least one animal on me and, if Brooke was around, she would come and cuddle too.

Brooke's Birthday/Lukas' Due Date
So, May 23rd finally came around and I figured that would be the day I would finally go into labor (it was after all my due date) since it was Brooke's birthday and we had a party to go to (isn't that how it is supposed to work - make plans and you will go into labor??). So, as the day progressed and I didn't, we headed out to Jungle Jim's to celebrate Brooke's 4th birthday. I have to say, I am glad that Brooke and Lukas don't have to share a birthday, although they aren't that far away regardless. So, here a some cute pics from the party. It was a lot of fun with both of my nephews and my niece there and all of Brooke's friends.

Catch Up
Okay - so now that I have a one month old (!!!) and I am finally adjusting to motherhood the best I can (aka - surviving on minimal sleep), I have decided it is time to post some more entries. So, I will start with a picture of my gigantic belly a couple of weeks before I gave birth. Believe it or not, I got even bigger after this was taken. If I hadn't delivered Lukas soon, I do believe I would have popped!
